Creating Superbills
A superbill is an itemized receipt that clients can submit to their insurance company for reimbursement when your practice is out-of-network or does not bill insurance directly. Generating accurate superbills supports your clients' financial access to care.
What a Superbill Includes
- Provider name, NPI number, and practice address
- Client name and date of birth
- Date of service
- Diagnosis codes (ICD-10)
- Procedure codes (CPT)
- Amount charged and amount paid
How to Generate a Superbill
- Go to the Billing section or open the relevant invoice.
- Click Generate Superbill.
- Verify that all diagnosis and procedure codes are accurate.
- Click Save or Download to produce the superbill as a PDF.
- Share the superbill with the client via the client portal, email, or direct download.
Tips
- Confirm ICD-10 and CPT codes are documented in the clinical note before generating the superbill to ensure accuracy.
- Clients should submit superbills to their insurance company directly — your practice is not responsible for the reimbursement outcome.
