Secure Messaging with WithinEHR

Secure messaging is vital for maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to privacy regulations including HIPAA. WithinEHR provides an encrypted channel for discussing sensitive clinical details — eliminating the risk associated with unencrypted email or SMS.


Send a Secure Message to a Client

  1. Go to Messaging on the navigation pane.
  2. Use the search bar to find the patient you want to message.
  3. Click on the patient's name to open the conversation.
  4. Type your message in the message box.
  5. Click Send.

View Recent Messages

  1. Open Messaging.
  2. Under the Patients tab, your recent patient conversations are listed.
  3. Click any conversation to view the full thread.

Message Staff Members

  1. Open the Messaging section.
  2. Select the Staff tab.
  3. Choose the staff member you want to message.
  4. Type your message and click Send.

Attach Files to a Message

  1. In the chat, click the paperclip icon.
  2. Select an image or document from your device.
  3. Click Upload, or drag and drop the file into the upload box.
  4. Click the send icon to send the message with the attachment.

Use Emojis

  1. In a direct message, click the emoji icon.
  2. Choose any emoji you want to include.
